It’s a lucky island, culinary specking, with a rich history of invasion and influence, each invader adding something new. This episode features the cuisine of Sicily.
The largest island of Italy, it's known for volcanic mountains, spectacular beauty both natural and man-made, North African and Arabic influence to its food, architecture, music, language and culture - some of which you might have seen on screen in the hit TV show Inspector Montalbano.
We are joined by our friend, Chef Paulette Licitra, to disuss our Sicilian family heritage, her travels to the island and cooking experiences in Palermo - including a visit to Capo Market and cooking on a boat in the harbor - and Ragusa. We delve deep into the seafood, streetfood and sweetfood that Sicily is know for.
